There is a good, clear contrast with complementing typefaces from different categories. It is clean and simple, yet it draws attention on its own. I really enjoyed this display of typography. By using two typefaces from different categories, they encourage a strong and well-displayed structure. It lets the main picture speak for itself but provides the information viewers need. Also, it is significant to point out the weight within the description. The actors’ names and the description use the same typeface but change its sizes to indicate relevance. Notice how the title’s typeface is exclusive to it. Beginning with the sizes, the first typeface used is interchangeably small and medium in contrast to the large main title, which uses the second typeface. There is a lot of effort put in this poster to mark the contrast and provide an easy-to-view graphic design. It helps promote the movie’s fun theme and avoids any conflict between both fonts. It is a clever font that takes us from the sophisticated and formal Sans Serif to a more loose and decorative typeface.
The second typeface belongs in the Decorative category. This font was conveniently chosen to give contrast to the second typeface chosen, which we will discuss later on. It also uses the same thickness all around, avoiding any thick/thin transitions. It is a monoweight font that lacks any serif or stress. The category of the first typeface they used is Sans Serif. In this blog post, we’re going to take a deeper look at how and why it works.
